Boxes are designed to contain or house something of worth, to protect something or keep its parts together. They should be worthy of the task and have strength and character. Boxes, if you let them, can be mystical,

 The best boxes are  simple with clean lines,  elegant not pretentious. They should be functional, sturdy and hold together for ever.

I custom made boxes for  special occasions, many will have a carved images or monograms on the lid.

I also make several standard size boxes  like the Cherry Treasure boxes, Lace wood and Dragonfly  boxes are are always in stock and available for purchase on line.

I use penetration oil finishes for two reasons the first is that they are indestructible finishes that are good for the wood, they never need to be removed in order to repair scratches. The second is that they are safe to use (for me) and safe for the environment with no harmful vapors that might contribute to global warming when drying.

The Mahogany in these boxes comes from wood used in old furniture that could not be repaired. I love the idea of putting it back on the road instead of the land fill or stove.
